Final Processing
The Final Processing flow is one of the most critical workflows in the system. The activities in this flow ensure that the account holder has been issued credit for the dispute and that a resolution notice is sent. This flow is called when a dispute is resolved as paid or when a regulatory resolution SLA expires.
When the flow is called, the system will check to see if a Paid Letter has been sent. If not, one is generated. If interest has been calculated, the Refund Interest flow is called to facilitate refund accounting. If the dispute is still in active dispute status, the Dispute Status Maintenance flow is called to remove it. Finally, the system checks to see if the account holder has been issued full credit for the amount of the dispute. If not, and there is no balance in suspense, the Write Off flow is executed to faciliate loss accounting. If the account holder has not received full credit and there is a balance in Suspense, Paid Accounting is executed.
The case may not be resolved when final processing is completed. This allows for recovery, and other maintenance activities, to resume. However, once final processing is complete, a dispute cannot be denied unless withdrawn by the account holder or a merchant credit is issued.
