Production Metrics
Overview
Evaluating the production output of team members helps leaders make strategic decisions. There is no single "correct" way to measure production, however, the information on this page serves as general guidance and a springboard for new and existing clients.
Methodology
Production can be measured by points achieved within a specified timeframe. Leaders need to determine the following:
- Datum (what does the user do to earn points)
- Time period in which the datum is being observed
- How many points are earned per datum observed
- The point goal for users per specified time period
Datum
There are two data points that are used for production metrics are actions taken on assignments and assignments worked.
We recommend using one data point to evaluate user performance.
Timeframe
The timeframe in which points are evaluated is usually hourly or daily.
Point Value
Points are given a numerical value based on estimated work completion time. Completing time studies will allow leaders to determine an appropriate point value for each action/assignment completed.
We provide point values based on our experience in the below pages.
Point Goal
Determining a point goal is based on many factors including average user performance and business need. We found that 60 points per hour (1 point per minute) works best for our internal team.
