How-To

Accounting Overview

By Collection

The sum of monetary adjustments per General Ledger is displayed first.

  • Account Holder: This collection represents the account holder and any accounting adjustments that involve the account holder.

  • Fees: When a fee is credited or a fee credit is reversed, this collection is referenced.

  • Loss: Any account holder credits that are not recovered will require a debit to one, or more, loss accounts.

  • Merchant: This collection is primarily used for tracking recovery from external parties, such as merchants, other financial institutions, or even other departments within your institution. For example, when a chargeback is submitted, the merchant bucket is debited to illustrate the liability shift.

  • Suspense: This is the most frequently used collection in QFD. All account holder accounting entries will involve a credit or debit to suspense. Additionally, suspense balances are used to determine loss potential.

Users can click the Show Operations link to view a list of all adjustments in the selected collection.

By Steps

For a list of all adjustments in chronological order, users can scroll down the By Steps section.

Manual Adjustments

Users can add accounting adjustments to the case. This function is not commonly used, however, it is available for those edge cases where an accounting adjustment is made in an external and needs to be noted in QFD.

If the "Is only for tracking purposes (not accounting performed)?" box is checked, QFD will not process the accounting adjustment entered by the user.
