Visa Rapid Dispute Resolution

Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) is a product by Verifi, a Visa company, that allows sellers to set pre-defined rules for automatic resolution of disputes.  When a dispute is submitted to Visa, the Visa system will check for eligibility and, if applicable, evaluate any seller-defined rules to render a decision.  If the decision is to pay the dispute, Visa will facilitate settlement, just like they would with a chargeback.  QFD supports this process in both manual and RTSI-enabled environments, with a few key differences.

21.2 Mandate

As of 21.2, all Visa issuers are automatically enrolled in Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR).  The ability to disable RDR has been removed.

How does RDR happen?

Manual Environment

In a manual environment, the question "Will the dispute be resolved via Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR)?" in Visa Execute Chargeback prompts users to identify when it is determined during the dispute process in VROL that the dispute will be resolved by RDR.

RTSI-Enabled Environment

When a dispute is submitted via RTSI and the dispute will be resolved via RDR, Visa returns the VROLFinancialID field with a value that starts with "M".

How does QFD handle a dispute resolved via RDR?

When either of the above scenarios occur, the dispute is resolved as paid and a "Rapid Dispute Resolution" action is recorded in Recovery Action History.  Additionally, Chargeback Accounting is executed to illustrate settlement.
