Visa Exception Review

An "Exception Review" pend reason is available during the Visa recovery process for use when waiting for a response from Visa for an liability allocation exception.


  • Only available in the Disposition and Recovery steps of a Visa claim.
  • Automatically initiated if the user answers "Yes" to "Will you be pursuing an exception?" in the Record Initial Liability assignment in the Allocation flow.
  • Max Days: 5 calendar; Default Days: 4 calendar


When an exception is pursued, a Request Exception Review assignment is generated and prompts a user to request the exception from Visa.  While a response is awaited, a Pend for Exception Review assignment is displayed in the Disposition step.  When the pend SLA expires, a Check Exception Review assignment is generated and prompts the user to record the response from Visa.

  • If approved, and: 
    • In Allocation flow, dispute moves to Pending Response.
    • In Collaboration flow, dispute returns to Disposition Case.
  • If denied, the user is prompted to process liability.
  • The user may also choose to pend again if no response has been received.
