Fraud Unauthorized Purchase

Conditions

The Cardholder acknowledges participating in at least one transaction but denies participating in one or more other charges at the same merchant.  Following are examples of applicable scenarios:

  • Cardholder disputes a Transaction as fraud and Transaction documentation that is provided by the Acquirer or Acquirer Processor in response to a TRR does not validate Cardholder's consent to the Transaction
  • Cardholder disputes a Transaction as fraud and the Transaction documentation provided by the Acquirer or Acquirer Processor in response to a TRR is illegible
  • Cardholder disputes a Keyed Card Transaction as fraud; Card security code was not present in the Authorization Request; and, after obtaining the Acquirer's or Acquirer Processor's response to the TRR, the Issuer or Issuer Processor determined that the Card imprint does not display all of the security features required on embossed Cards or the Card imprint is missing


Timing

An Issuer or Issuer Processor may initiate a Chargeback within the following timelines as applicable:

  • If a Transaction Retrieval Request (TRR) is submitted, a Chargeback must be initiated between 60 calendar days of the TRR initiation date and 30 calendar days of the close date of such TRR.
  • If there is no TRR, the Chargeback must be initiated within 120 calendar days of the Processing date of the Card Transaction.
